The J.F.K. vocal curriculum is scaffolded to take students from their first days of kindergarten singing, dancing and playing to their entrance into our more formal school based performances in 4th grade, 5th grade and beyond!
Throughout each school year, students in grades PreK-5 have opportunities to learn through singing, movement, playing instruments, composing and by listening and reflecting on various musical excerpts. Students in grades 1 - 5 will work on developing skills to foster music literacy. The General Music Curriculum at JFK centers around the ideals of Music Theorists Carl Orff and Zoltán Kodály.
Various performances occur throughout the course of the school year. Please visit the Upcoming Events page on the website to stay up to date on all school performances. The fifth grade chorus members offer a winter and spring concert. Fourth graders participate in their own spring concert as well. Additionally, students in all grades perform in various assemblies and school wide events.
At JFK, we provide music education that is accessible and enjoyable to various student needs and interests. Miss Lambraia strives to inspire an appreciation of music in her students and hopes that each student is able to find a personal and individualized connection to music that will lead to their involvement in the Great Neck Public School Music Program for many years to come.
